Welcome. I am Dr. Yuye Zhang, a licensed psychologist dedicated to providing person-centered, evidence-based psychotherapy. My clinical foundation is built upon over a decade of rigorous training and diverse practice across the United States.
Originally from China, I navigated my early professional chapters in Washington State, earning my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Washington (Seattle) in 2015. Driven by a pursuit of advanced training and more in-depth clinical knowledge, I went on to obtain my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University in 2021.
My clinical expertise was honed through an APA-accredited predoctoral internship at Penn State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), followed by postdoctoral experiences at the North Carolina State University Counseling Center. Having practiced in both intense collegiate counseling centers and community mental health clinics, I deeply understand the unique psychological friction individuals face within demanding institutional and social environments.
My practice is structured to support adults navigating complex life experiences. I specialize in working with a distinct demographic: from undergraduate and graduate students managing academic isolation and pressure, to professionals navigating systemic burnout, identity integration, and difficult life transitions.
Having crossed cultural boundaries myself, I bring a nuanced, culturally fluid lens to my work. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all templates. Instead, we will look into your unique background, early conditioning, and systemic context to untangle the underlying roots of your distress.
To protect the quality of care, I intentionally maintain a smaller, limited caseload. This structure allows me to step away from high-volume constraints and invest deeply in your therapeutic journey.
For you, this means a therapist who is fully present and intellectually refreshed during our time together, with the capacity to thoroughly reflect on your case outside of our sessions. I utilize the additional time to engage in consultation, stay current with the latest empirical findings, and protect the emotional space required to honor your story with the focus it deserves.
Outside of the therapy room, I protect my own balance by immersing myself in the serenity of nature, sharing quiet moments with my dog, enjoying a cup of coffee, and getting lost in a good book.
Deciding to begin therapy is an act of radical honesty. I look forward to meeting you exactly as you are, and walking alongside you toward authentic growth and positive change.
